At Rock Solid Families, we meet with most clients just a couple times a month. Therefore, it’s important that clients realize that the majority of work happens on their own and outside our office.  We know healthy relationships take work, and we want to give you practical tools and biblical resources to help you on your journey.  So, here are some resources we recommend to help you build a Rock Solid foundation for you and your family.

CHANGES THAT HEAL BY DR HENRY CLOUD

This book is a down-to-earth plan to help us recover from the wounds of the past and grow more and more into the image of God.

Many of us struggle with anxiety, loneliness, and feelings of inadequacy. We know that God created us in his image, but how can we be loving when we feel burned out? How can we be free when we struggle with addiction? Will we ever enjoy the complete healing God promises? These are just some of the questions one of our favorite authors tackles and answers in this classic, Changes That Heal.

LOVE AND RESPECT by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs

This book is a great resource for couples wanting to get out of the crazy cycle and into a full, rich relationship. We use Dr. Eggerichs’ work a lot working with couples in our office.

The Five Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman

This favorite of ours outlines five general ways that people express and experience love. It’s a helpful tool for any couple as well as parents trying to learn how to love their children in the most effective way.

The Collapse of Parenting: How We Hurt Our Kids When We Treat Them Like Grownups.  by Dr. Leonard Sax

This parenting resource has been a HUGE help in working with clients. Working as a family physician for over 40 yrs., Dr. Sax identifies major parenting shifts that have occurred in our culture and how to restore sanity in the home.

Boundaries: When to Say Yes and How to Say No by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend

This book is one of our favorites. The concept of boundaries is biblical and foundational for every healthy relationship. It’s a must read.

Sacred Marriage: What if God Designed Marriage to Make Us Holy More Than to Make Us Happy? By Gary Thomas.

This book invites Christians to view marriage differently than the world does. It’s an insightful book that opened our eyes to what marriage is really all about.

This book is an eye opener when it comes to kids and technology. Dr. Dunckley offers extensive research as well as a step by step plan on helping your child disconnect from technology and reconnect to you.

This book was a huge help to us personally and to others who have a strong willed child in the house. It’s packed full of useful strategies to reduce the level of tension in your home.

This classic was one of our first parenting favorites. It’s jammed pack full of practical parenting tools built on biblical principles.
